On November 2, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam organized the Conference “Meet Japan 2023” (Meet Japan 2023) in Hanoi. The conference is part of a series of activities organized annually by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to support localities in strengthening international integration and attracting external resources to serve socio-economic development.
SUPPORT LOCAL CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES
Since 2017, the “Meeting Japan” Conference has been held annually and has always received strong support and companionship from the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam; leaders of important Japanese agencies, organizations and associations in Vietnam, and numerous Japanese businesses and partners.
Speaking at the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized that Vietnam – Japan cooperation is at the best stage of development in the history of relations between the two countries. The two sides have achieved deep political trust and effective and practical cooperation in all fields.
According to research results of the Japan Trade Promotion Organization (JETRO), 70% of Japanese businesses investing in Vietnam intend to continue and expand operations in Vietnam, 88% of businesses in Japan expect revenue in Vietnam to increase in the future.
Along with the general development trend of Vietnam-Japan friendly and cooperative relations, exchanges and cooperation between localities of the two countries have developed strongly and substantially in recent times. Localities of the two countries have established about 100 pairs of relations and signed more than 110 cooperation documents in many fields such as investment, trade, labor, human resource training, cultural exchange, and people exchange. people.
Along with that, exchanges and delegation exchanges between local leaders of the two countries are vibrant and in-depth, one of the important factors contributing to strengthening cooperation in investment, trade, labor, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

The leader of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Ministry, along with functional units and representative agencies in Japan, will continue to accompany and actively coordinate to support Vietnamese localities to strengthen connections and expand exchanges. On the Japanese side, Mr. Yamada Takio, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, expressed his joy at attending the “Meet Japan 2023” event with the largest number of delegates from the two countries ever attending, demonstrating the high interest from both Japan and Vietnam.
Ambassador Yamada Takio also emphasized that 2023 is the year commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam, marking a new milestone in cooperative relations between the two countries. The two countries are cooperating extensively in fields such as ensuring political security, economics, culture, education, and human exchange and are truly becoming each other’s comprehensive strategic partners.
